Clara Tauson Set for Comeback at Madrid Open Following Back Injury
Clara Tauson, the talented Danish tennis player, is poised to return to the WTA Tour at the Madrid Open in two weeks. This comes after she was compelled to withdraw from the Indian Wells tournament earlier this year due to a back injury that had raised concerns about her fitness.
Fortunately, reports indicate that the severity of Tauson’s back issue is not as dire as initially feared. Although her recovery may not allow her to compete in the upcoming WTA tournament in Stuttgart next week, her father, Soren Tauson, has expressed confidence that Clara will be ready for the Madrid Open, suggesting that she will likely make the tournament’s draw.
“Clara has decided that she will start up in Madrid. Now she has put in a training block ahead of the gravel season, and she is running a really good program,” Soren Tauson stated in an interview with dr.dk.
The clay season is of particular importance, culminating in the prestigious French Open Grand Slam tournament at the end of May, where Clara reached the third round last year. After a turbulent start to the current season that has seen her slip from World No. 12 to No. 18 in the WTA rankings, her performance in the upcoming tournaments will be crucial in regaining her form.
