Onana’s Absence Hits Aston Villa Before Liverpool Clash
The upcoming Premier League encounter between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Villa Park will see the home side deprived of the services of midfielder Amadou Onana once more. This unfortunate situation arises due to an injury sustained during the first leg of the UEFA Europa League semi-final against Nottingham Forest, which has kept him sidelined for several key fixtures.
Since suffering this setback, Onana has been missed in critical matches, including those against Tottenham Hotspur and the Europa League return leg, in addition to last weekend’s outing against Burnley. His absence adds to Aston Villa’s injury woes, as he joins goalkeeper Alysson and a long-term injured player, Boubacar Kamara, on the sidelines.
During his pre-match press conference on Thursday, Aston Villa’s head coach Unai Emery provided an update regarding his squad’s condition. He confirmed that, unfortunately, the injury roster remains unchanged, stating, “We have the same players out. Amadou Onana is not available for tomorrow, Alysson as well is not, Kamara as well is not.” However, he expressed optimism that other players are prepared and fit to participate in the upcoming match against Liverpool.
