YANKEES PLACE ALL-STAR PITCHER MAX FRIED ON 15-DAY INJURED LIST
In a recent development for the New York Yankees, starting pitcher Max Fried has been placed on the 15-day injured list due to a bone bruise in his left elbow, as reported by multiple sources. This move comes at a critical time for the team, as Fried has been a key player this season.
The 32-year-old pitcher, who currently leads Major League Baseball (MLB) with 61.2 innings pitched—outpacing his peers with no other pitcher exceeding 60 innings—will undergo further evaluations on his throwing elbow in a few weeks, depending on the team’s re-assessment of his condition.
Fried, who had a promising start to the 2026 season highlighted by consecutive shutouts in his opening games, has faced challenges in recent outings. Over his last three starts, he has conceded a total of 11 runs, with his performance declining notably as he has not pitched more than six innings in any of those games. In his latest appearance on May 13th against the Baltimore Orioles, he struggled significantly, allowing three runs on five hits, achieving just two strikeouts—which marked a season low—and issuing one walk.
As a three-time All-Star and four-time Gold Glove winner, Fried has maintained a respectable earned run average (ERA) of 3.21 this season, holding a record of 4-3. This comes just a year after he led the league in wins with a remarkable total of 19. His current strikeouts-to-balls ratio stands at 2.63, matching his performance when he finished fifth in the Cy Young voting after the 2020 season. Moreover, his statistic of 0.1 home runs allowed per nine innings is the best record in baseball, underscoring his effectiveness on the mound despite recent setbacks.
