Sick Striker Isolated From the Norwegian Squad Before Clash Against Iraq

As Norway gears up for their inaugural World Cup match against Iraq on June 17, they face unsettling news regarding one of their players. Crystal Palace striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is presently grappling with an illness that has necessitated his isolation from the rest of the team. The announcement comes as the Norwegian national team arrived in Boston, where they conducted their first training session on their Foxborough training ground.

Team coach Stale Solbakken confirmed that Strand Larsen has been experiencing fever: “He has caught some fever,” Solbakken stated, adding that it was up to the national team doctor, Ola Sand, to manage the situation. He noted that the striker missed both training and team meals, indicating that he will likely receive nourishment in his hotel room while he recovers.

Dr. Ola Sand provided further insight, stating that symptoms manifested in Strand Larsen on Sunday and escalated the following morning. Concerned about the spreading of illness, he was seated at the back of the flight to Boston while wearing a face mask, and is now confined to his room for medical attention.

As for Strand Larsen’s potential participation in the tournament, coach Solbakken remains hopeful: “I spoke to him today. It’s not like he’s terminally ill, because then we wouldn’t have brought him here. So, I’m hoping he’ll be ready tomorrow.” In the meantime, the rest of the squad appears to be in good health and is preparing to compete against Iraq with full strength.
