Nathan Ake Transfers to Fenerbahce After Successful Manchester City Stint
Dutch footballer Nathan Ake has finalized his switch to Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce, concluding a notable six-year tenure at Manchester City. The announcement by Fenerbahce came on Friday, though details regarding the contract duration and transfer fee remain undisclosed.
Ake, who is 31 years old, made his way to Manchester City from Bournemouth in 2020 for a reported transfer fee of €45 million. During his time with the English club, he appeared in 177 matches across all competitions, contributing to the team’s impressive haul of 12 trophies.
Recently, Ake represented the Netherlands in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring in three out of four games for his team, including a start in the critical round-of-32 match against Morocco.
The move to Fenerbahce follows a challenging season for the Istanbul team, which failed to clinch the Turkish league title for the twelfth consecutive time, finishing just one point behind champions Galatasaray. Additionally, the club made changes in management, dismissing head coach Domenico Tedesco after only one season and reappointing Ismail Kartal for his fourth term as manager.
This transfer marks a significant chapter in Ake’s career as he embarks on a new journey with Fenerbahce, aiming to solidify his presence in another top European league.
