Junior Caminero Exits All-Star Game After Getting Hit by Pitch
During the 2026 MLB All-Star Game, Tampa Bay Rays’ Junior Caminero had to leave the field after suffering an injury. The incident occurred in the top of the third inning when National League pitcher Riley O’Brien threw a sinker that struck Caminero on his hands, causing immediate pain and prompting him to exit to the clubhouse.
In his initial at-bat, Caminero grounded out but was subsequently replaced by Miguel Vargas of the Chicago White Sox, who made his debut at the All-Star Game. After the incident, Caminero underwent an X-ray examination, which thankfully returned negative, alleviating concerns about a serious injury.
This marks the second consecutive season that Caminero has earned a place on the American League All-Star roster. He has posted impressive statistics this season, including 28 home runs, 59 runs batted in (RBI), a batting average of .279, and an on-base plus slugging (OPS) of .927.
In the previous year, the Dominican-born player achieved a remarkable 45 home runs and 110 RBIs. He also played a crucial role for the Dominican Republic in this year’s World Baseball Classic, boasting an outstanding batting average of .350, alongside three home runs and seven RBIs.
