FC Copenhagen Defender Hatzidiakos Set for Homecoming with PAOK Deal Agreed
Pantelis Hatzidiakos is on the verge of departing from FC Copenhagen, with reports indicating that a deal has been struck between the Danish side and Greek club PAOK Saloniki. According to a report by Tipsbladet’s Farzam Abdolhosseini, the 29-year-old defender is expected to finalize his transfer for a fee of €1.5 million (approximately 11 million Danish krone), with a medical examination scheduled in Greece later this week.
Hatzidiakos initially joined FC Copenhagen on loan from Cagliari in 2024, and after a successful spell, the club made the move permanent for the previously agreed amount of €1.5 million. During his time with Copenhagen, Hatzidiakos contributed significantly to the team’s success, helping them secure the domestic double in the 2024/25 season.
However, the following season proved to be less favorable for the club, as they faced substantial challenges, finishing seventh in the Superliga and having to contend with relegation play-offs. Despite these setbacks, Hatzidiakos made his mark by starting 19 of the 22 regular-season matches, though his appearances dwindled towards the end, starting only six of the last 14 games during the regular season and play-offs.
In total, Hatzidiakos has made 85 appearances for FC Copenhagen, netting 5 goals. He has also gained international experience, representing Greece 41 times. Prior to his time in Denmark, Hatzidiakos spent nine seasons with AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie before transitioning to Serie A with Cagliari in 2023.
As the transfer window progresses, fans and analysts alike will be monitoring Hatzidiakos’s transition back to Greece and how he will adapt to his new environment at PAOK Saloniki.
