Klay Thompson Joins Miami Heat Following Mavericks Buyout

During his two seasons with Dallas, Thompson maintained an average of 12.9 points per game, with a shooting percentage of 38.7% from three-point range across 141 appearances.
Masai Ujiri, the president of basketball operations for the Mavericks, expressed gratitude for Thompson’s contributions to the team in an official statement. “Klay is one of the great players and competitors of his generation. We have tremendous respect for him and wish him nothing but the best moving forward,” Ujiri stated, acknowledging the significant impact Thompson had on the organization.
Thompson’s time with the Mavericks was not without its challenges, as the team struggled through a disappointing season with a record of 26-56. Reports indicated that Thompson expressed a desire to join a contending team, which led him to the Miami Heat, a franchise positioned to compete for the championship.
