Ai Ogura Withdraws from Aragon Grand Prix Due to Injury
Ai Ogura, the 25-year-old rider from Trackhouse Racing, has been officially ruled out of this week’s Aragon Grand Prix after suffering a fracture to his left hand during training in Japan. This injury marks his second consecutive absence from the event, having also missed it last year due to a leg injury sustained in 2025.
Upon arriving in Europe, medical evaluations revealed that the fracture near his left thumb necessitates surgical intervention. This procedure is scheduled for Thursday, as announced by the Team through a post on social media.
This development is particularly disappointing for Ogura, who recently celebrated his first MotoGP victory at the Dutch Grand Prix held in Assen this past June, positioning him third in the overall riders’ standings. Despite this setback, he remains a close contender, trailing the championship leader Jorge Martin of Aprilia by a narrow margin of 37 points as the race dates for Aragon approach, from August 28 to 30.
In light of Ogura’s injury, Trackhouse Racing has confirmed that Italian test rider Lorenzo Savadori will step in to replace him for the upcoming Spanish Grand Prix weekend, ensuring that the team maintains its competitive presence at the event.
