Manager’s Optimism
Aaron Boone, the Yankees’ manager, expressed optimism about Judge’s recovery progress. In a statement made prior to a game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Saturday, Boone noted, “I know he threw and ran yesterday,” indicating that Judge has been actively involved in light exercises. Boone further added, “Hopefully (he’ll) continue to progress through this week and we’ll see what else gets introduced,” highlighting the team’s cautious approach to ensure Judge’s return to full fitness.
The Injury Details
This season, Aaron Judge has been playing through considerable pain, which culminated in the diagnosis of a stress fracture in the first rib on his right side. The injury was believed to have occurred during an attempt to make a diving catch and avert a collision with teammate Jazz Chisholm in a game played on April 26. Prior to his injury, Judge had been performing at a high level, contributing significantly to the team’s offensive efforts.
