Asian Champions Al Ahli Sign Portuguese Winger Francisco Trincao from Sporting CP

In a significant transfer within the Saudi Professional League, reigning Asian champions Al Ahli have officially acquired the services of Francisco Trincao, a talented Portuguese winger previously with Sporting Lisbon. The announcement was made public on Saturday, as stated by the club.

Al Ahli celebrated the signing of the 26-year-old by releasing a captivating video on the social media platform X. The footage showcased Trincao officially signing his contract, while excitedly holding the number seven shirt he will don as part of his new team. In a poetic welcome, the club remarked, “From the land of sailors, he came to dive into the depths of history… Welcome, Trincao.”

Born in Braga, located in northern Portugal, Trincao’s football journey commenced at a young age when he joined the academy of Sporting Braga at just 11 years old. He climbed through the youth ranks, eventually making his mark on the senior team with impressive skill and determination.

Trincao’s breakout moment arrived in 2018, when he played a pivotal role in helping the Portuguese national team secure victory at the European Under-19 Championship, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer. His notable performances during this period caught the attention of top clubs, leading to a significant transfer to FC Barcelona in 2020.

After a season with Barcelona, Trincao was loaned to Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he sought to gain further experience in one of the world’s most competitive leagues. Following this stint, he returned to Portugal to continue his career with Sporting Lisbon before making the transition to Al Ahli.
