Napoli Secures Benoit Badiashile on Loan from Chelsea
In a strategic move to bolster their defensive lineup, Napoli has officially announced the acquisition of French defender Benoit Badiashile on a season-long loan from Chelsea. The announcement came on a Saturday, with the Italian club expressing their enthusiasm for the addition, which includes an option for a permanent transfer.
Badiashile, at the age of 25, previously joined Chelsea from Monaco in a high-profile deal in January 2023, reported to be around 37 million euros, which is approximately £31.5 million. During his tenure with Chelsea, he made a total of 71 appearances across all competitions and found the back of the net twice. However, his last season was plagued by injuries, limiting him to just eight league appearances.
Now, the defender will join a Napoli squad that achieved remarkable success by claiming the Serie A title in 2025 and finishing as runners-up last season, narrowly missing the top spot to Inter Milan. The recent transition in management saw the departure of Antonio Conte, paving the way for Massimiliano Allegri to take charge at Napoli.
As the new Serie A season approaches, Napoli is set to commence their campaign with a home match against Genoa this upcoming Saturday, and the team is counting on Badiashile’s defensive prowess to strengthen their efforts on the field.
