Danish Handball Star Returns to National Team After Maternity Leave

Kathrine Heindahl, a prominent figure in Danish handball, is set to make her much-anticipated return to the national team following her absence due to pregnancy and maternity leave. This comeback comes as Heindahl has been called up to substitute for the injured Sofie Bardrum during the EHF Euro Cup, where Denmark is scheduled to compete against the Czech Republic and Turkey in the upcoming weekend.

National Coach Praises Heindahl’s Performance

Heindahl has been showcasing impressive form, playing for Team Esbjerg in both the league and the Champions League. National team coach Helle Thomsen expressed his excitement about her inclusion in the squad, particularly in light of Bardrum’s injury. “With Kathrine Heindahl joining us, we’re gaining a formidable defender capable of bolstering our defense against the Czech Republic. I am eager to see her on the court alongside the new players who have integrated into the team this past year,” remarked Thomsen in an official statement.

Upcoming Matches in EHF EURO Cup

The Danish women’s handball team has convened this week in preparation for the decisive final group stage matches of the EHF EURO Cup, facing off against both the Czech Republic and Turkey. Heindahl is slated to participate in the inaugural match against the Czech Republic on Thursday. Following this game, Nanna Hinnerfeldt is expected to join the team, taking Heindahl’s place for the subsequent game against Turkey scheduled for Sunday in Kolding.
