FC Copenhagen Relieves Women’s Coach Kasper Klarskov of Duties After Brief Tenure

In a surprising turn of events, FC Copenhagen has announced the dismissal of Kasper Klarskov, the head coach of their women’s team, mere weeks into the season. Klarskov’s tenure saw him at the helm for only three matches, marking a rapid shift in leadership as Fabiana Alcalà steps in as the acting head coach.

Kasper Klarskov Nielsen was initially brought on board as the inaugural head coach following the establishment of the women’s team in 2024. Under his guidance, the squad achieved a remarkable ascent, earning promotion first to the B-League during their debut season and subsequently ascending to the A-League. This journey has set a solid foundation for the team’s future in competitive women’s football.

Henrik Mogelmose, the Chairman of the Board for the FC Copenhagen women’s team, expressed gratitude for Klarskov’s contributions, stating, “Kasper has played a pivotal role in building our women’s team from its very inception into a squad that is now taking its first steps in the A-League. He has taken us a long way, and we owe him a great debt of gratitude for his dedicated efforts.”

The decision to part ways with Klarskov was made with the recognition that in order for the women’s team to continue its development, a shift in coaching strategies and qualifications is necessary to meet the evolving demands of the top tier of women’s football. Mogelmose added, “We have come a long way in a short time and are now playing in the top division. This places new demands on sporting leadership, and different competencies are needed to take the next steps in developing and consolidating the team in the A-League. However, this should not overshadow the recognition Kasper deserves for the work he has put into the team.”
