Both Speier and Wilson were ejected from the match after a dangerous pitch from Speier struck Detroit’s Gleyber Torres in the left leg during the eighth inning. This fastball clocked in at a speed of 96.3 mph, marking it as the second consecutive inside pitch directed at Torres.
Background of Tensions
The tensions on the field were compounded by a previous incident where a 94.7 mph fastball from Detroit reliever Enmanuel De Jesus hit Seattle catcher Cal Raleigh in the left ribs, escalating the rivalry between the two teams.
