India’s Sarfaraz Khan to Replace Injured Sai Sudharsan in Sri Lanka Test Series

The Board of Control for Cricket in India has announced that left-handed batter Sarfaraz Khan will step in for the injured Sai Sudharsan in the upcoming two-Test series against Sri Lanka. Sudharsan has shown “significant progress” in recovering from a toe injury; however, it has been decided that Khan will take his place in the squad.

The opening Test is set to commence on August 15th in Galle, followed by the second Test scheduled to take place between August 23rd and August 27th in Colombo. This series marks India’s first involvement in the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle since their disappointing 2-0 home defeat to South Africa in November.

Following the recent developments in the WTC standings, India currently sits at fifth position, trailing the leaders, Australia, while Sri Lanka is positioned sixth. Both teams will be vying for crucial points in what promises to be an exciting series.
