Marco Bezzecchi Sets New Silverstone Track Record in MotoGP Pre-Qualifying
In an impressive comeback after sustaining a broken collarbone, Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi shattered the existing Silverstone track record during the pre-qualifying session for the British MotoGP held on Friday. His remarkable lap time of 1 minute 56.280 seconds outpaced the previous record set by Fabio Quartararo, who had clocked in at 1 minute 57.233 seconds during the 2025 edition of the event.
Top Performers in MotoGP Pre-Qualifying
Bezzecchi’s performance placed him firmly at the top of the leaderboard, showcasing his resilience following his injury at the German MotoGP. Close on his heels was Spain’s Raul Fernandez, competing for Trackhouse Aprilia, who finished just 0.335 seconds behind. Fabio Di Giannantonio secured the third position, while championship leader Jorge Martín lagged half a second behind Bezzecchi. Martín remarked that his bike’s performance provided a mental boost, enhancing his racing confidence.
The Challenges for Fellow Competitors
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, however, faced a disheartening experience, ending up in 17th place and expressing that he had “never felt so bad” while riding. His struggles contrasted sharply with Bezzecchi’s triumphant return to the track.
