Former West Ham Striker Michail Antonio Joins Qatar’s Al Sailiya
Michail Antonio, the all-time leading Premier League goalscorer for West Ham United, has officially signed with Al Sailiya in Qatar. This move comes after a challenging period for the player, who recently underwent surgery following a serious car accident that occurred while driving home from training. The Qatari club confirmed the transfer on Monday via social media, showcasing a video of Antonio’s memorable goals and training highlights, although details regarding the contract’s length and financial terms were not disclosed.
Antonio departed West Ham in August 2024 after the club chose not to extend his contract. He hasn’t participated in competitive football since December 2024, a hiatus that began after he sustained multiple fractures to his thigh in a car accident that required extensive hospitalization. His return to the pitch was marked in June 2025 when he made a comeback as an 85th-minute substitute for Jamaica during a Gold Cup match against Guatemala, albeit in a 1-0 defeat.
Having joined West Ham in 2015, Antonio accumulated a total of 323 appearances and netted 83 goals across all competitions, establishing himself as the club’s top Premier League scorer with 68 goals. His transfer to Al Sailiya marks a new chapter in his career as he seeks to regain form and continue contributing to the sport.
