Promising Danish Midfielder Bidstrup Joins Lyon from Red Bull Salzburg

Mads Bidstrup, a talented midfielder and former Danish Under-21 international, has officially transferred from Red Bull Salzburg to Olympique Lyonnais after three successful years with the Austrian club. According to L’Équipe, the 25-year-old has signed a five-year contract worth €10 million.

Bidstrup joined Salzburg in the summer of 2023 from English Premier League team Brentford. During his time there, he quickly became a key player for the team, amassing 116 appearances and contributing four goals along with five assists. His dedication, skill, and engaging personality won him many fans among the Salzburg supporters.

Now, as he embarks on a new chapter with Olympique Lyonnais, Bidstrup aims to help the club improve upon its recent fourth-place finish in Ligue 1. Last season, Lyon faced disappointment in the UEFA Europa League, where they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Celta Vigo.

The transfer market remains vibrant as several prominent moves have been made, including Marseille’s appointment of Bruno Genesio as head coach following Habib Beye’s brief tenure. Additionally, Danish international striker Vangsgaard has joined Aston Villa from Juventus, while Andreas Christensen has extended his contract with Barcelona, albeit with a significant pay cut.

In addition to the developments surrounding Bidstrup, Bayern Munich announced the signing of Morocco midfielder Ismael Saibari from PSV, while Barcelona continues its pursuit for talent with a bid for Atletico’s striker Alvarez confirmed by club president Joan Laporta.

The World Cup is also in full swing with thrilling matches, such as the D.R. Congo’s surprising lead against England, and upcoming critical clashes including Belgium vs. Senegal.
