Saints Rookie Standout Jordyn Tyson Ruled Out for Two Months with Hamstring Injury

According to multiple insiders within the NFL, Jordyn Tyson, the promising rookie wide receiver for the New Orleans Saints, is expected to be sidelined for approximately two months due to a right hamstring strain. Tyson, 22 years old, was selected as the eighth overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, which took place in April. Over the course of his college career, he amassed impressive statistics, including 158 receptions for 2,282 yards and 22 touchdowns across 33 games.

During training camp, Tyson had emerged as a standout player for the Saints and was anticipated to play a significant role in the team’s offensive strategy this season, particularly alongside his fellow wide receiver, Chris Olave. However, the young athlete’s injury history raises concerns. In 2022, Tyson suffered a severe injury, tearing his ACL, MCL, and PCL in his left knee. Just two years later, he experienced a fractured left collarbone, and in 2025, he endured a Grade 2 strain in both hamstrings, which followed a prior ankle sprain earlier that year.

The Saints are scheduled to begin their season on September 13th against the Detroit Lions, allowing Tyson the potential to miss only a handful of regular season games given that the preseason is still ongoing. If the Saints decide to place Tyson on the Injured Reserve list while finalizing their 53-man roster, this would mean he would be out for the remainder of the season. Conversely, should they choose to place him on IR once the regular season commences, as a member of the final roster, he would only be required to sit out a minimum of four games.
