SOUTH KOREAN STRIKER OH HYEON-GYU DEPARTS GENK AND JOINS BESIKTAS

Oh Hyeon-gyu, the talented forward from South Korea, has officially signed with Besiktas on a contract lasting three and a half years after his departure from Genk. The Turkish club made this announcement on Wednesday.

Besiktas has confirmed that they will remit a transfer fee of 14 million euros (approximately $16.5 million) to the Belgian team, as stated in an official communication from the club.

“An agreement has been reached with both the club and the player regarding the transfer of professional football player Hyeon-gyu Oh,” the Besiktas statement elaborated.

This former Celtic player has made a notable impact on the international stage, netting six goals in 24 appearances for the South Korean national team, and he will don the number nine shirt for his new team.

At the age of 24, Oh showcased his scoring ability while at Genk, where he found the back of the net 10 times in 32 matches across all competitions.

The transaction represents a significant addition to Besiktas’ attacking options as they aim to bolster their squad for the upcoming challenges in the Turkish league and beyond.
