Tiger Woods Set for Competitive Return in TGL with Eye on Playing at Masters
Tiger Woods is poised to make a tentative comeback to competitive golf by participating in the TGL league on Tuesday. This announcement comes just weeks after the esteemed 15-time major champion hinted that competing in the Masters in April remains a possibility for him.
At 50 years old, Woods underwent disc replacement surgery in October, a procedure that adds to a timeline of operations and injuries that have sidelined the legendary golfer from elite competition since the 2024 British Open.
In the TGL finals, Woods will represent Jupiter Links. This innovative league incorporates advanced technology into golf by pairing it with players from the PGA Tour, blending traditional aspects of the game with modern enhancements.
Woods boasts an impressive record at the Masters, having secured five titles, with his most recent victory in 2019 marking the end of an 11-year major championship drought. His journey to recovery follows a devastating car crash in 2021 that resulted in severe leg injuries.
The highly anticipated 2026 Masters at Augusta National is scheduled for April 9th-12th. In a statement made last month, Woods was non-committal about his participation, yet he acknowledged his progress in recovery, moving from chipping and putting drills to executing full golf shots.
“I keep working on it, trying to get stronger, trying to get more endurance in this body and trying to get it at a level at which I can play at the highest level again,” he commented, showing determination in his rehabilitation efforts.
