San Francisco 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall to Undergo Season-Ending Knee Surgery
In a significant development for the San Francisco 49ers, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall has been slated for season-ending surgery on his knee to address a persistent PCL injury that has plagued him since the previous year. This information was confirmed by the team’s general manager, John Lynch.
Pearsall, who had a previously unblemished college career, faced numerous setbacks during his tenure with the 49ers. He missed a total of 14 games due to various incidents, including a serious gunshot wound to his chest that sidelined him for six games and the aforementioned knee issues that kept him out for another eight games last season.
This marks the first time in his professional career that Pearsall will be unable to participate in an entire season. Despite the hardships, last season he managed to set career records with 528 yards from 36 receptions over the course of nine games, significantly improving from his rookie statistics of 31 receptions for 400 yards and three touchdowns.
The timing of this news is crucial, especially with the 49ers having recently signed veteran receiver Deebo Samuel to a one-year contract worth $7 million. Samuel had previously played with the Washington Commanders after an impressive six-year stint with the 49ers.
