Long-Range Stunner Earns Iraqi International Goal of the Year Award in Denmark

The Danish Superliga recently announced that Kevin Yakob, an Iraqi international midfielder, achieved a remarkable milestone by winning the Goal of the Year award. This honor was bestowed upon him for his stunning goal against Viborg on February 22, showcasing his exceptional skill and precision on the pitch.

Throughout the season, the Danish Superliga evaluates and awards a Månedens Mål (Goal of the Month) based on a set of criteria that includes technical execution, difficulty, and visual attractiveness, without considering the goal’s significance in the context of the match. At the end of the season, the top contenders are put to a public vote, allowing fans to choose the winner via SMS or online voting.

Kevin Yakob’s award-winning goal was nothing short of spectacular; he opened the score for AGF in a decisive 5-2 victory over Viborg by unleashing a breathtaking curling strike from outside the penalty area, sending the ball into the top corner of the net. This achievement comes after a challenging period for Yakob, who faced two serious cruciate knee ligament injuries before successfully returning to the field this season and contributing significantly to AGF’s success in clinching the Danish championship title.

In the fan voting for the Goal of the Year award, Yakob received the highest number of votes, while OB’s Fiete Arp and Franculino Djú secured the second and third places, respectively, demonstrating the high level of competition in the league.

Yakob’s perseverance and dedication have not only earned him individual accolades but also strengthened AGF’s reputation in Danish football, culminating in their first league title in forty years.
