US Player Akhilesh Reddy Receives Eight-Year Ban for Match-Fixing
Akhilesh Reddy, an international cricketer from the United States, has been suspended for a total of eight years due to his involvement in match-fixing, as announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Monday. The decision follows charges brought against him in November for breaching the sport’s anti-corruption regulations during the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League, where he faced a provisional suspension.
At just 26 years old, Reddy was found guilty by a tribunal of attempting to manipulate match outcomes or unduly influence games. Additionally, he was charged with trying to recruit another player into these corrupt activities, as well as for deleting crucial data and messages from his mobile device that were pertinent to the ongoing investigation.
The ICC stated that the ban will take effect retroactively from November 21, 2025. Importantly, the tribunal clarified that although Reddy sought to influence another player, he was unsuccessful in his attempts to engage them in corrupt practices.
Reddy’s last appearance on the field representing the United States was in April 2025, marking a significant moment in his career, which has now been overshadowed by this serious disciplinary action.
