British Grand Prix to Remain on MotoGP Calendar Until at Least 2028
The British Grand Prix has secured its spot on the MotoGP World Championship calendar through a renewed agreement with Silverstone, ensuring that this iconic race will continue until at least the 2028 season.
This extension solidifies the longstanding relationship between MotoGP and Silverstone, where the British Grand Prix made a triumphant return in 2010 after a 24-year hiatus. The upcoming race this year will be held on Sunday, marking it as the 12th event in the 22-race MotoGP season.
Stuart Pringle, chief executive of Silverstone, emphasized the significance of this extension, stating, “This partnership reinforces our commitment to two-wheel racing and secures our reputation as the premier venue for elite international motorsport.”
In agreement, Carmelo Ezpeleta, chief executive of MotoGP Group, acknowledged the UK’s rich heritage in motorcycle racing, highlighting its importance as a key market for the sport. “Silverstone offers an exceptional stage for MotoGP; the fact that we have seen 11 different winners in the last 11 Grands Prix hosted at this circuit speaks volumes about the high level of competition and unpredictability in racing,” he remarked.
