Casemiro Joins Inter Miami After Manchester United Departure
In a significant move for both player and club, Brazilian international Casemiro has officially become a part of Inter Miami, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career. Following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United, the 34-year-old midfielder signed a deal that will keep him at the American club until 2027, with an additional option to extend his tenure until 2029.
On Wednesday, Inter Miami announced the acquisition of Casemiro, who expressed enthusiasm about his new endeavor. “What motivates me the most – and I think this applies to every footballer – is the desire to keep winning and developing. The project the club presented to me and the effort they put into bringing me here mean a lot to me. I can’t wait to repay that not only in matches, but also in training,” he stated, underlining his commitment to contributing his talents to the team.
The signing signifies Casemiro’s transition away from European football, which he initially joined in 2012 when he moved from São Paulo. His prior experience includes stints at notable clubs such as Real Madrid, FC Porto, and Manchester United, where he gained a reputation as a formidable midfielder. With 91 caps for the Brazil national team, Casemiro also participated in the 2026 World Cup, following his appearances in the tournaments of 2018 and 2022, as well as multiple Copa America tournaments.

David Beckham, co-owner of Inter Miami, expressed pride in welcoming Casemiro and his family to the club, having admired him as both a person and player for a long time. “He is a winner who has achieved so much in the game, and after such an incredible career with Real Madrid and Manchester United, I’m delighted that he’s decided to make Miami his next home,” Beckham said.
As the reigning MLS Cup champions, Inter Miami currently holds the second position in the Eastern Conference standings. They are set to return from a break following the World Cup to face the Chicago Fire on Wednesday night, further intensifying the anticipation surrounding Casemiro’s contributions to the team.
