LYON DROP POINTS AGAINST 10-MAN LE HAVRE AS WINLESS RUN EXTENDS TO SIX MATCHES

In a disappointing display for Olympique Lyonnais, the team faced a setback in their pursuit of UEFA Champions League qualification, managing only a 0-0 draw against Le Havre, who were reduced to ten men. This match marked the sixth consecutive game without a win for Les Gones, adding pressure as they navigate through Ligue 1.

Both sides entered the match craving victory, having not enjoyed success in any competition since mid-February. Lyon’s Endrick made an early impact, sending a shot wide after capitalizing on a defensive misstep, while teammate Issa Soumare had a close-range header skillfully saved by Le Havre’s goalkeeper, Remy Descamps.

Le Havre’s Mory Diaw also made critical saves, thwarting a powerful shot from Endrick and subsequently tipping Abner Vinicius’ effort over the crossbar. The first half saw Lyon push for dominance, especially with Endrick’s fierce attempt from the edge of the box, but Diaw was again up to the challenge, keeping the scoreline level at half-time.

Hopeful for a breakthrough, Lyon’s skipper Corentin Tolisso sought to become the first player since Alexandre Lacazette to score in five consecutive Ligue 1 matches but had a close-range header disallowed for offside. This near miss intensified the match’s tempo, with Sofiane Boufal striking the post for Le Havre shortly thereafter.

Things took a turn for the worse for Le Havre when Stephan Zagadou received a red card for a foul on Endrick, yet they continued to threaten, with Loic Négo striking the woodwork as well. Despite Lyon enjoying the advantage of an extra player, they struggled to break through a resolute Le Havre defense that limited their scoring opportunities.

The final whistle confirmed a stalemate, which, while frustrating for Lyon as they trail Olympique de Marseille by two points in the standings, proved a valuable draw for Le Havre, extending their cushion from the relegation zone to eight points. Goalkeeper Mory Diaw earned the title of Flashscore Man of the Match for his outstanding performance, keeping Lyon at bay throughout the encounter.
