Monaco CEO Confirms Paul Pogba’s Underwhelming Performance

Paul Pogba’s tenure at AS Monaco may be cut short as the midfielder struggles to meet expectations after only one season with the club, despite signing a two-year contract during the last summer transfer window.

The former France international, who returned to competitive football following a doping suspension, made just six appearances across all competitions, leading to disappointment for both fans and management.

Monaco’s CEO, Thiago Scuro, addressed the situation, expressing respect for Pogba while acknowledging that the initial hopes and goals for his contribution were not realized. “It is a complicated topic because we have a lot of respect for Paul, for the person he is. Since he arrived, he has been very positive,” Scuro stated in an interview with Get French Football News.

He further elaborated on the challenges faced: “It is also true that, last year, the project didn’t work well because when we started with him in the summer, the expectations were very different to what happened.” Scuro emphasizes the importance of a fair assessment of Pogba’s development, both physically and technically, under the guidance of the coaching staff.

With Monaco looking to streamline their wage bill, the future of the talented midfielder remains uncertain. Newly appointed manager Filipe Luís has referred to Pogba as a “special player” and intends to have discussions with him soon to evaluate the next steps for both the player and the club.
