New Crystal Palace Boss Pierre Sage Aims for Elevated Performance in Pre-Season

Pierre Sage, the newly appointed manager of Crystal Palace, has expressed his ambition for the team to reach a higher standard as they embark on their pre-season campaign. Following a remarkable 5-1 victory over Swindon Town, Sage reflected positively on the match but emphasized the need for further improvement.

Notably, Eddie Nketiah made a triumphant return by scoring a goal, while Matheus Franca distinguished himself with an impressive hat-trick during the second half. After the match, Sage commended his players for their execution of the game plan in the latter part of the contest, noting the intensity of their response.

However, he acknowledged some challenges the team faced, particularly with ball control. “We had problems with the ball, and I think we have to work on this to be better,” he stated when addressing the media. Sage also pointed out that the current conditioning of the players only allows for 15-20 minutes of high-level performance, highlighting the early stage of their training.

As this is only the first week of pre-season, Sage indicated that the team requires more training sessions to improve. “We’ve only had five sessions together, and we won’t have just five anymore, so I think the next game will be better,” he assured, showing confidence in the team’s potential for enhancement.

The manager expressed satisfaction with the players’ dedication and willingness to perform, stating, “We have a good condition. We have a group who want to work with us, and I think they give their best every day.” He believes that this level of commitment will foster improvement both individually and collectively as a team.

Sage concluded with optimism about the future, asserting, “I think this is a good way to improve, both as players and as the team. I believe we will continue this progress.” As Crystal Palace looks ahead to the remainder of the pre-season, the focus will undoubtedly be on building upon this solid foundation and striving for excellence as they prepare for the upcoming challenges.
