Orlando Pirates Announce Departure of Seven Players Ahead of New Season
The Orlando Pirates Football Club has officially confirmed that seven players will no longer be part of the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. This roster change includes well-known players, marking a significant transition for the club.
Among those leaving the club are centre-back Thabiso Sesane and midfielder Salaelo Rasebotja, who have secured moves to Siwelele. In addition, the right-back Siyabonga Ndlozi and left-winger Gomolemo Khoto will join Sekhukhune United, further reshaping the Pirates’ defensive lineup.
Other notable departures include defensive midfielder Sonwabo Khumalo and centre-back Blessing Ngiba, both of whom will be playing for the second-tier team Midlands Wanderers. Additionally, forward Seth Green has signed with Durban City, seeking new opportunities in his career.
In a statement released on Monday, the Orlando Pirates expressed their gratitude towards these athletes, highlighting their contributions both on and off the field. “Each of these players has made a valuable contribution to the club during their time at Orlando Pirates, and their efforts have not gone unnoticed,” the statement read.
The club aimed to acknowledge the hard work and professionalism exhibited by the departing players throughout their tenure. “On behalf of the entire Orlando Pirates family, we wish these players continued success and fulfillment as they embark on the next chapters of their respective careers,” the statement concluded.
Notably, out of the seven departing players, only Ndlozi saw game time in the league, managing to make a single appearance that lasted 18 minutes against Polokwane City in October.
