Jarrod Bowen Commits to West Ham Despite Relegation
West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has made a firm commitment to remain with the club as they brace for a challenging season in the second-tier Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League. This declaration was made during an interview featured on the club’s official website, providing clarity on his future amidst swirling rumors.
At 29 years old, Bowen was a crucial member of the West Ham squad that faced relegation on the last day of the previous season, a situation that naturally spurred speculation about his next move. Nevertheless, he emphasized his dedication to the club, stating, “For me, the main thing is to get this club back into the Premier League… It was a no-brainer for me to be here and the vision is clear, it’s the Premier League.”
Bowen acknowledged the disappointment felt by both players and supporters alike, but he is determined to focus on the future. “I know it’s difficult times. We share that disappointment, but that’s done now. The job now is to get back into the Premier League and go up this season,” he asserted.
Joining the club in 2020 from Hull City, Bowen has made an impressive 280 appearances for West Ham, netting 85 goals during his tenure. His leadership capabilities were recognized when he was appointed captain in 2024, following the exit of former teammate Kurt Zouma.
Internationally, Bowen has earned 22 caps for the England national team; however, he was notably overlooked for a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad this summer, further adding to the motivation behind his commitment to West Ham.
The upcoming Championship season presents a new chapter for West Ham, with their campaign set to kick off against Burnley on August 16th, marking the start of their journey to reclaim their place in the Premier League.
