Ipswich Town Secures Issa Diop on Four-Year Contract
Ipswich Town has completed the signing of defender Issa Diop from Fulham, confirming a four-year contract for the 29-year-old Moroccan international. The Premier League club announced this move on Wednesday, underlining their commitment to bolstering the squad.
British media reports indicate that Ipswich has invested approximately £8.5 million to acquire Diop, who has an extensive track record in top-level football. The defender has spent the last four seasons with Fulham, where he accumulated 96 appearances across all competitions, further solidifying his reputation on the field.
Diop’s journey began at Toulouse, where he started his senior career before making a significant transfer to West Ham United in 2018. During his tenure with the Hammers, he played in 121 matches and scored eight goals, showcasing his defensive skills coupled with an ability to participate in offensive plays. In 2022, he transitioned to Fulham, where he continued to develop his professional career.
This World Cup cycle saw Diop representing Morocco, where he made five appearances and notably scored against the Netherlands, contributing to his country’s efforts on the global stage.
