NICE BRINGS BACK ELYE WAHI ON LOAN FROM EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
In a move that has excited fans, OGC Nice has secured the return of 23-year-old Ivorian forward Elye Wahi, who joins the club on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt. This deal comes just months after Wahi played a crucial role in helping Nice avert relegation in the French Ligue 1.
Wahi first arrived at Nice in January on a similar loan agreement. His performance in May, notably a crucial brace against Saint-Etienne during the play-off matches, proved instrumental in ensuring Nice’s place in the top tier of French football.
On Monday, the club officially announced that Wahi would be with them for the entire season, with an option to make the transfer permanent at its conclusion. This arrangement was anticipated by many fans, especially after Wahi received an enthusiastic welcome at the Nice airport on Sunday evening.
The Ivorian forward is set to be in the squad for Nice’s upcoming match against Paris FC this Sunday. According to sources, the financial terms of the loan involve a payment of 1.5 million euros, approximately $1.75 million, and a potential permanent transfer for an additional 15 million euros.
Last season, Wahi showcased his abilities by scoring nine goals in 19 matches. Despite Nice’s struggles to remain in Ligue 1, his contributions were pivotal, especially after the club finished fourth the previous season and participated in the Champions League qualifying rounds.
