RB Leipzig Secures Loan Deal for Christopher Nkunku from AC Milan

In a significant development, RB Leipzig has officially announced the signing of French forward Christopher Nkunku on loan from AC Milan, complete with an option to purchase. This move marks Nkunku’s return to Leipzig, where he previously played from 2019 to 2023, during which he showcased his remarkable skills by netting 70 goals and winning two German Cups.

The 28-year-old forward’s performance during his last season at Leipzig was especially noteworthy, as he finished as the joint top scorer in the Bundesliga for the 2022-23 season. Marcel Schaefer, the managing director for sport at Leipzig, remarked on Nkunku’s return, emphasizing the exceptional talent he previously displayed, noting, “He has already shown the exceptional talent that he brings to the table and that he can make a difference in games.”

Before his time at Leipzig, Nkunku began his professional career at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). In 2023, he transferred to Chelsea, though his tenure at Stamford Bridge was plagued by injuries. However, despite these challenges, he achieved notable successes with the team, including winning the Conference League and the Club World Cup.

Last year, Nkunku signed with AC Milan, where he made an impact by scoring eight goals in 35 appearances throughout the 2025-26 season. Besides his club achievements, Nkunku has represented France at the international level, recording 18 caps for the national team.

This transfer is set to inject vitality into Leipzig’s squad as they aim for success in both domestic and European competitions this season.
